February 2022 DVD Release Spotlight

Thanks to ViaVision, some more classic Australian (and British) TV shows are getting DVD releases in February (2022).

Prisoner: Collection One (Seasons 1 & 2)

From legendary producer Reg Watson (Sons and Daughters, Neighbours, Crossroads).

When the gate slams shut, you’re on your own! Join the inmates of Wentworth Detention Centre for the first 165 episodes of the groundbreaking Australian soap series. Follows the trials and tribulations of popular characters including “Queen” Bea Smith (Val Lehman), Doreen Anderson (Colette Mann), and Lizzie Birdsworth (Sheila Florance) as they fight for survival in a life behind bars. Prisoner aired for eight years from 1979 for an incredible 692 episodes and was the precursor to the hugely popular Wentworth series. It was one of the most-watched Australian shows ever, at home and around the world. Made by Grundy Television, Prisoner was the first Australian show to tackle themes such as sexual assault, sexuality, murder, and violence.

DVD release date 2nd of February.

Heartbeat: Collection Two (Series 7 – 11)

Award-winning series including ITV Programme of the Year in 1995 & 1998.

One of the most beloved and successful British TV series of all time, Heartbeat stars Nick Berry, and new addition to the cast Jason Durr, as PCs whose work take them into the heart of community life in the fictional North Yorkshire village of Aidensfield. Set during the 1960s, this enduringly popular series interweaves crime and medical storylines, with a host of colorful characters that viewers took to their hearts and a wonderfully nostalgic soundtrack.

Collection Two brings together the Series 7 – 11 across 31 discs.

DVD release date 16th of February.
