TV Week: “Adam Joins Julie’s sitcom” Hampton Court 24th November 1990

TV Week
24th November 1990

HOME AND AWAY’S Adam Willits, who filmed his last scenes for the popular soap last month, has walked straight into a new role.

Adam, still seen on air in Summer Bay until the end of the year as Steven, has been signed by Hey Dad! Producer Gary Reilly for his new sitcom.

Adam will join Julie McGregor (Betty in Hey Dad!) in Hampton House*, a half-hour spin-off from the popular sitcom.

A pilot episode was to have been filmed at ATN7 Sydney on November 18. If Seven executives give the series the go-ahead, Hampton House will go into production April next year.

Hampton House is about four young people who share a house.

Adam’s character is described as “a yuppie pain in the neck”. Adam says: “It’s great getting the part. I was only out of work for a week!”

According to TV WEEK sources, young blonde actress Nana Coburn (another ex-Home and Away star) also has been screen-tested for a role and the cast for the pilot includes Henri Szeps (Mother and Son), Danielle Spencer and Rod Zunaic.

Co-stars again… in real-life romance

In a sea of gloom, two stars couldn’t hide their happiness during the dying days of the ill-fated Family And Friends.

Impending unemployment wasn’t enough to upset Justine Clarke, 19, and Renato Bartolomei, 27, who played nurse Cheryl Brooks and romantic rebel Robert Rossi. Why? Because unbeknown to even their closet co-stars, the handsome twosome had fallen in love.

Seven months later, so serious they become that Renato has moved from Melbourne to Sydney so he can be with Justine.

Justine’s former soap co-star and flatmate Mouche Phillips says: “They spend every moment together. It’s rare to see one in public without the other. Justing has never been happier.”
